Official ADHD Testing

Our practice is excited to announce that we are now offering Qbtech’s official ADHD testing, an FDA-cleared medical device that provides objective data for diagnosing and treating ADHD for patients ages 6-60.

This evidence-based testing allows us to gather more information on your symptoms to better understand your unique needs and develop effective treatment plans to improve your quality of life.

What is ADHD?

ADHD can manifest differently depending on age and various factors, both internal and external.

If you experience any of the symptoms below, it may be worth considering an evaluation for ADHD.

  • Difficulty remaining still, particularly in calm or quiet environments

  • Constant fidgeting or restlessness

  • Challenges concentrating on tasks

  • Excessive physical movement or activity

  • Excessive talking

  • Difficulty waiting your turn

  • Impulsive actions without thinking

  • Interrupting conversations or activities

  • Little or no awareness of potential risks or danger

  • Carelessness and lack of attention to detail

  • Frequently starting new tasks before completing previous ones

  • Poor organizational skills

  • Inability to focus or prioritize tasks effectively

  • Regularly losing or misplacing items

  • Forgetfulness

  • Restlessness or feelings of being on edge

  • Difficulty remaining quiet, speaking out of turn

  • Interrupting others or blurting out responses

  • Mood swings, irritability, and a quick temper

  • Difficulty managing stress

  • Extreme impatience

  • Taking risks in activities with little or no regard for personal safety or the safety of others (e.g., reckless driving)

Why is testing important?

  • Avoiding bias due to age and sex differences

    • ADHD presents very differently, depending one’s age/sex.

      • Qbtech’s test results include data from age/sex-matched normative groups to ensure better comparisons of your symptom severity.

  • Symptoms of ADHD can overlap with other disorders

    • Qbtech’s objective testing provides data to better understand if symptoms fit the

presentation we expect with ADHD or not.

  • Ensuring optimal outcomes

    • Finding the right treatment takes some trial-and-error, and determining treatment

      • Qbtech’s testing allows us to measure response to treatment to ensure you are receiving optimal results in a streamlined way.

What to expect

  • Testing involves a 15 to 20 minute, nonverbal, computer-based task and can be taken at home.

  • The task measures your attention level and impulse control.

  • While taking the task, movements are measured to determine if hyperactivity is present.

  • Results are compared to an age and sex matched group.

  • With the information from your clinical interview and rating scale(s), your clinician will interpret results to determine if you qualify for an ADHD diagnosis.

  • If an ADHD diagnosis is indicated, our practice may then conduct Qbtech’s testing after treatment is initiated to measure your response to treatment.

  • The test fee is a $100 out-of-pocket cost to the participant.

  • The interpretation appointment with the clinician to review the results is generally covered by most insurance providers and typically lasts between 20 to 30 minutes.
